Episode 8: An Unborn Saint with Fr. Rusty Bruce

No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. - John 15:13

Welcome to another episode dedicated to Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. We are excited to welcome Father Rusty Bruce of the Diocese of Thibodoux to talk with us about the Ulma Family, an entire family recently beatified – including a barely-born baby!

What does this mean for families who have lost children in the womb prior to the grace of baptism? Has the Church changed her teaching or merely clarified and developed what has always been taught?

Join us to be reassured with the hope of salvation for our babies lost far too soon in the womb.  Father Bruce walks us through baptism by blood, baptism by tears, and baptism of desire and connects it to your loss.  To your beautiful baby that is no longer with you. He reminds us of a powerful document from the International Theological Commission called “The Hope of Infants who Die without Baptism” published in 2007 and available on the Vatican website.

Your baby was carried with love and your grief is precious to us.  We hope this episode will inform and comfort you in your loss.  Be sure to visit our Carried with Love resource available here on our website.
