The Good Shepherd

Clergy Pastoral Workshop

Our Clergy are first responders. They receive calls to anoint those approaching death. They are called when a death occurs to pray with the family and to bury their loved one. They are called when a family's world is falling apart and nothing makes sense anymore. They are often invited into the most sacred parts of people’s stories, parts they do not share with the world. Parts they are often afraid to explore themselves, and emotions too big to face on their own — what the team at Red Bird calls their holy altar of suffering. We honor this place as holy ground, where we sometimes take off our shoes because of the tears shed that have sanctified the very place we will walk with them.

Our clergy are in need of additional formation and wisdom gathered by experts in the fields of grief, psychology, trauma, peer accompaniment, and spiritual direction to provide a more holistic, integrated approach to healing. Red Bird Ministries has answered the call and is ready to serve

The Good Shepherd Workshop is a 4-hour, in-person workshop designed for clergy to equip our first responders with the necessary information and skills to pastorally support families dealing with the loss of a child and those impacted by suicide. If you would like more information to schedule a workshop for clergy in your diocese, please schedule a call with our team.

The framework of the 4-hour workshop provides a space to explore the different relationships that the bereaved encounter on their healing journey. Together as a team, we can help them find holistic, integrated healing.

“I am like the sick sheep that strays from the rest of the flock. Unless the Good Shepherd takes me on His shoulders and carries me back to His fold, my steps will falter, and in the very effort of rising, my feet will give way. ”
