The Good Shepherd
Clergy Pastoral Introductory Workshop
Our Clergy are first responders. They receive calls to anoint those approaching death. They are called when a death occurs to pray with the family and to bury their loved one. They are called when a family's world is falling apart and nothing makes sense anymore. Clergy are often invited into the most intimate parts of people’s stories — parts that families do not share with the world and are often afraid to explore themselves — what we at Red Bird call their holy altar of suffering. We have a responsibility to honor these tender and holy spaces where the suffering heart of Christ is revealed to us.
Our clergy are in need of additional formation and wisdom gathered by experts in the fields of grief, psychology, trauma, peer accompaniment, and spiritual direction to provide a more holistic, integrated approach to grief ministry. Red Bird Ministries has answered the call and is ready to serve.
The Good Shepherd Workshop is a 4-hour, in-person workshop designed for clergy to equip our first responders with the necessary information and skills to pastorally support families dealing with the loss of a child and those impacted by suicide. If you would like more information to schedule a workshop for clergy in your diocese, please schedule a call with our team.
Workshop
The framework of the 4-hour workshop provides a space to explore the different relationships that the bereaved encounter on their healing journey. Together as a team, we can help them find holistic, integrated healing.
Grief Expert Speakers
Experts from the fields of peer accompaniment, psychology, trauma, catechesis, and spiritual direction have collaborated as the Red Bird Team to provide a holistic approach to grief ministry, sharing their wealth of knowledge with leaders.

“I am like the sick sheep that strays from the rest of the flock. Unless the Good Shepherd takes me on His shoulders and carries me back to His fold, my steps will falter, and in the very effort of rising, my feet will give way. ”
— St. Jerome
